Poe arrives

Enter Poe. The shy, scared, nervous, starved little angel Momma met at the shelter Sunday and couldn't bare to leave there a second after her legal hold period was up.

When Poe met me, she was a bit nervous, yes, but a few quick sniffs and words of encouragement from yours truly ("you are safe, you are loved, it all gets better from here") and BOOM! Happy Poe!
One might almost say TOO happy Poe. Shell to come out of? What shell? Maybe it is just the magic that is me, or maybe it's the country air, or maybe its the 3 cups of expresso Momma wondered if the shelter had given her as a goodbye present  . . .
Whatever it is, it's caused Momma and I to change our "plan" for Poe. There seems to be little to no need to teach her to be brave, but instead, we need to teach her to BEHAVE, and be CALM, that kid didn't stop, all night, not once (well, Momma did use a crate and some stuffed kongs to give my old bones a break from crazy puppy face. IN. MY. FACE.)
This is going to be a challenge for sure, as my sister come home tonight (sometimes they go away for a few days during the week :( Momma says to their "dad's" house, weird!), and they aren't quite as understanding as I am about dogs like this - Momma is going to have her hands FULL!

But we are both very glad that Poe is safe and seeming to enjoy her new found freedom SO much!
